Join us for a holistic childbirth education and labor preparation class rooted in midwifery-led care.

Birth is both biological and deeply human. Preparation is not about controlling the outcome, it’s about understanding the process and knowing how to move within it. Our Rooted in Birth Labor Preparation Series is a comprehensive childbirth education experience designed to help you approach labor with knowledge, confidence, and a deep understanding of your body’s wisdom.

Why does labor preparation matter?
Labor is a physiological process – but the systems surrounding birth can be complex.

Preparation helps you:

  • Understand what is happening in your body during labor
  • Reduce fear through evidence-based knowledge
  • Navigate hospital policies and medical language
  • Clarify your preferences and communicate them with confidence
  • Equip your partner or support person(s) with practical tools
  • Make informed decisions in real time

Research consistently shows that childbirth education is associated with greater confidence, lower anxiety, and more positive birth experiences. Preparation does not eliminate unpredictability, but it does increase agency.

What makes our approach different?
We teach from the midwifery model of care, a framework that centers:

  • Physiological birth
  • Informed consent
  • Bodily autonomy
  • Respect for your intuition
  • Cultural humility and dignity

We believe preparation should feel empowering, not overwhelming. Our intention is that you leave understanding not just what happens in labor, but why.

What we’ll cover:

  • The stages and physiology of labor
  • Comfort measures and pain coping techniques
  • When and how medical interventions are used
  • Understanding induction, augmentation, and cesarean birth
  • Partner roles and support practices
  • Advocacy and communication skills
  • Postpartum expectations and recovery basics

Knowledge is not just empowering – it is stabilizing. We are committed to offering education that strengthens both individual families and the communities we serve.

Please note: this class is recommended for birthing people in their 3rd trimester.

Space is limited to please reserve your spot. Partners are welcome and encouraged to join -- please be sure to let us know if you plan to attend with a partner or support person. No more than 2 support people are invited per birthing person.
